Many of our community's most active leaders support Chris Burnett. One of those expressing support is Steve Levetan, chairman of the Sandy Springs Conservancy. "We are personally supporting Chris Burnett for City Council because we have each served with him for years in organizations that are so important to Sandy Springs, and he has proven time and again his love for this city through his tireless efforts to make our town a better place," Levetan said. "Chris is not just a great guy, he is a real leader with impeccable integrity and we know he will be an outstanding advocate and leader for our district and our community.”
Burnett serves in leadership roles with many of the organizations whose members have endorsed him. Some of those include the Sandy Springs Conservancy, the Sandy Springs Civic Fund, Holy Innocents Board of Trustees, Rotary Club of Sandy Springs and the Sandy Springs/Perimter Chamber of Commerce.
Other local volunteers who have endorsed Burnett include:
""One of the truly great assets in Sandy Springs is our amazing volunteers and I am so thankful for their friendship and support. Like them, I love Sandy Springs and truly believe that we can be a great community if we have the right vision, passion and leadership." - Chris Burnett
Friends:
I am pleased to endorse Chris Burnett to serve as our next District 3 City Councilperson. As many of you know, I held this seat from 2009 to 2013, and, since rolling off the Council, I have remained engaged in City affairs through my leadership positions with several Sandy Springs organizations. As an attorney, I have represented individuals and businesses in dealings with and against the City. Through my experiences both on and off the Council over the last 7 years, I've developed a keen understanding of both the opportunities and challenges that Sandy Springs will be dealing with in the coming years and the type of leadership it needs, especially for District 3.
District 3 is by far the most active district in the City in terms of hot-button issues and constituent needs. The councilperson for this district serves over 45 HOAs, compared to some districts that have less than ten. The district has the most engaged constituency as measured by the number of voters and email traffic. The City Manager told me once, only half-jokingly, that he got 10 times the number of emails from me and my constituents than all the other districts combined. Our district includes the massive City Springs project, Riverside Drive and Johnson Ferry and their respective Cobb Co. commuter problems, a huge chunk of the Roswell Road corridor, Hammond Drive and its future widening, and the next big greenspace project at Old Riverside Park.
The bottom line is that District 3 needs a councilperson who has deep experience in city affairs so he or she can hit the ground running on Day 1 and be effective. The major issues will not wait for someone to get up to speed. Balanced with that is the need for a customer service-oriented representative who is available 24/7 to quickly, competently and sometimes patiently respond to the needs and concerns of his or her constituents. Because of his long-time leadership in key Sandy Springs organizations and his many years as a successful community banker, Chris Burnett has the best combination of talent, temperament and tenacity for being District 3's next City Council representative.
Please feel free to pass this along to your District 3 neighbors.
Sincerely,
Chip Collins
