chris burnett family sandy springs1Chris was elected to the Sandy Springs City Council in July of 2016.  He is an Atlanta native who has lived in Sandy Springs for more than 25 years.  Chris worked his way through college as a bank teller while earning his Finance Degree from Georgia State University, then attended the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.  He met Karen Perkins in 1985 and quickly fell in love with her and her home town!  Karen grew up in the Riverside neighborhood and attended Underwood Hills and Riverwood High School.  They settled in Rivershore Estates where they raised their two children, Christopher and Greyson.

Chris has been a community banker for 37 years, and in 2013, with the late Eva Galambos and other community leaders, formed Bank of Sandy Springs to serve the financial needs of our commnity's small business owners and residents.  Chris is also one of Sandy Springs' most active community leaders, serving on:

  • The Next 10 Planning Committee, which developed our city's strategic plan for the next decade,
  • Sandy Springs Chamber of Commerce, twice serving as Board Chairman.  Chris supports small businesses and the local restaurants and retailers who are revitalizing our downtown district,
  • Holy Innocents' School Board of Trustees, where he serves on multiple committees that support the school and church,
  • Sandy Springs Civic Fund, which grants scholarships to our public school graduates who need assistance with college tuition,
  • Sandy Springs Rotary Club, which supports a number of worthy causes in our community,
  • Former member of the Sandy Springs Conservancy Board, which created the Great Park at Morgan Falls, the Abernathy Greenway and Lost Corners Park.

Chris is also a well-known local musician, and his band has played for many charity events over the years including in the Sandy Springs Festival, the Sandy Springs Society, the Heritage Concert Series and the Sandy Springs Rotary Club.

Chris' passion for and dedication to Sandy Springs has been demonstrated time and time again through his years of personal service to our city and he is running for reelection as District 3's Councilman so he can continue working to make Sandy Springs the best hometown in America!
